![]() ![]() ![]() If you order a milkshake and they tell you it’s not gluten free, it’s because the sprinkles they put on top are not gluten free. My husband and many of my friends who have gone there with me now order it that way because it’s so good! Milkshakes It is super crispy and moist…but very messy so be sure to ask for extra napkins. My favorite is to order the burger “protein style” which is where they substitute a large hunk of lettuce for the bun. They can make most of their burgers gluten free by either substituting a yummy (but big) gluten free bun which is what my boys usually get. Make sure to remind them they need to be fired in the separate fryer. They have a separate fryer for their fries, you just have to ask them to “hold the sprinkles” because their homemade salt seasoning they put on the fries is not gluten free. Here’s how to order them and be sure they are gluten free. Main things you need to worry about, besides the obvious, are their fries, burgers and milkshakes. They have a gluten free menu but sometimes you need to remind them about specifics, especially if you are Celiac. Pam from the local GIG group also recommended I try it, after sharing that their support group recently had a meeting there. She quickly instructed me not to use the special Red Robin salt seasoning on my fries, and shared with me that a she regularly has people request GF accommodations. My waitress, Toya, was even more reassuring. With this reassurance, I decided to give them a try (a bold move considering the major business meeting I have in Atlanta tomorrow). Upon calling, the manager Derek reassured me that they offer GF buns, prepare the food very carefully to avoid cross-contamination, and have a dedicated GF fryer for the french fries. I was nervous to try this place, considering the GF menu having SO MANY disclaimers. I must say that I had a truly pleasant GF experience at this Red Robin in Montgomery, AL, while on my way to a business trip in Atlanta. They need better training to support the allergen menu. If they are so concerned about cross contamination why does the brocoli not get contaminated? The staff were very helpful but they were unable to explain why the allergen menu said I could not eat certain items. ![]() Closer examination of the allergen menu at my leisure I found that although the fries did not contain dairy there could be cross contamination - I do not understand how this can happen in a dedicated fryer. Our server and manager did not understand what was going on. But I decided to risk it and had a burger with no cheese and fries. I am also dairy free and was surprised to find there was almost nothing I could eat except steamed broccoli - I couldn't eat the fries!!! And all burgers came with cheese. We visited today and I asked for the allergen list just to check everything out. At the time it was explained to me that the fries were gf and the burgers were also safe. We are from the UK and discovered Red Robin about 10 years ago which was before our burger restaurants had gf buns. ![]()
